Prayer Guidelines

Prayer is communication with God. Talking with Almighty God is
the greatest privilege you have.

God desires a growing relationship with you. Communication is
essential for a relationship to develop. Involve God in every
part of your life: every decision and every action. In that
sense you should pray without ceasing -- always being in
communication with God.

However, we need special prayer times focused completely on the
Lord. He is worthy of our time and attention -- and we require
this time with Him to develop spiritually.

Remember the instruction given in Psalm 100:4, Enter into His
gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. If
you seem to run out of words to praise God, use some of the
Psalms, or praise and give thanks in tongues (1 Corinthians
14:16-18).

Many use the model prayer our Lord gave in Matthew 6:9-13 as a
guideline for their special daily prayer time. Some of the
principles taught are:

*You are praying to your Father.
*First worship and honor God.
*Pray that God's will be done before praying about your own or
others' needs.
*Ask for God's forgiveness and help.
*Finish by praising God.

During times of prayer many find it helpful as a memory aid to
have a prayer list of people and things to pray for. Also,
keeping a journal of your prayer requests and answers is
beneficial and will bless you tremendously as the years go by.

Always base your prayer on Scripture. Scripture is God's
answer. Receiving from God in prayer involves taking His answer
(His Word) to Him and receiving your request by faith.

Also, every believer can and should develop the habit of
praying much in tongues. This not only edifies you spiritually
(1 Corinthians 14:4, Jude 1:20), but allows you to pray with a
wisdom beyond your ability and knowledge (Romans 8:26-27).

SAY THIS: Prayer is a privilege.

Prayer is really a privilege. It takes us up close to God. Indeed lets base prayer on scripture. What does the scripture say about praying? Yes every believer needs to rely on prayer, but is it biblical that 'every believes has to pray in tongues'? Lets examine this using the bible itself. *

First understand that speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift- 1 Cor 12:1-11. (other gifts are on Ephesians 4:12). Notice on 1 Cor 12:11 that each believer does NOT receives all the gifts for they are given as the Spirit determines. Hence its possible for a believer not to use the gift of tongues. Now think, is it biblical to say 'every believer has to pray in tongues'? *

(other gifts are on Ephesians 4:11). You see from the previous post that not every believer will have the gift of tongues. If some does not speak or pray in what you think as tongues, don't think he/she don't have God's spirit for he/she may have another gift. *

How have you understood Acts 2 & 1 Corithians 14? What is the real nature of the biblical tongues? You see, the Holy Spirit brings tongues to some believers, but the evil spirits can also display counterfeit tongues. Now how do we know the true spiritual gift of tongues? *

Acts 2: After they spoke in tongues on verse 4, notice how people heard them on verses 6, 8 & 11. The point is, the tongues the disciples spoke, was a complete language somewhere like the places mentioned on verses 9, 11 & 11. Is this the case with the so called noise called tongues? And notice the outcome of tongues with a brief sermon on verse 41. Thus the biblical tongues, its NOT just some useless noise!! See 1 Corithians 14, *

1 Corithians 14: Verse 2 shows how the incident of Acts 2 was possible on the previous post. It means the people who head the disciples in tongues could understand them because of God's intervention. Lets see what this chapter has to say about the true tongues. *

tongues is the language of the Spirit, your mind does not understand it.It is the Holy Ghost that enables you to speak not yourself. He that speaketh in unknown tongues edifieth himself, thex edify, build you up in the Spirit realm, they are a heavenly language, angels which the bible says they are the ministering Spirit understand them.Your Spirit prayeth when you pray in tongue. *
